SpecificationApplies to Styrax distillates and extracts (oils, resinoids, absolutes) from Liquidambar styraciflua var. macrophylla and L. orientalis. Pyrogenic (dry-distilled) Styrax oil must be rectified under Good Manufacturing Practice; the PAH benzo[a]pyrene and 1,2-benzanthracene must not exceed 1 ppb in total in the finished product, counted together with rectified Cade oil, rectified Birch tar oil and Opoponax. Crude Styrax gum (storax) is prohibited.
